so i’ve been enjoying vacation and haven’t written much lately. i’ve got a bunch of pics and videos to upload, but i’m avoiding the computer. stay tuned……they will come
So life at home is going well – we’re all tired (well, Meg more than the rest of us, but still…). Ava is doing great, but still challenging to feed because her energy isn’t there yet. Emily loves having her home – but I imagine that once it sinks in that Ava’s here to stay there may be some adjustment for her!
We want to thank everyone for their prayers and support, and we look forward to showing Ava off to you. Since she was so early and had some complications, however, we have to be very careful about handling her, and careful about germs/infections spreading and so we are going to have to be very cautious of having visitors and taking her out places. In short, we want you all to be able to see her as soon as possible, but please don’t be offended if we don’t have you over to see her in the near future as we have to be extremely careful at this point and so we’re limiting visitors for the time being. Thanks for your understanding, and of course, once she’s in the clear she’ll be the life of the party!
She’s home!!! More to come later…
So we just got home, Ava passed the car seat test, so now as long as she gains weight (any weight at all) she’s coming home tomorrow morning. They’ve already got the discharge order in, so it’s extremely unlikely (think snowballs in the mojave desert) she will have to stay!!
So Ava did great last night – lost a bit of weight, but Meg was at the hospital sleeping over to breast feed all night so that’s not uncommon.
They’ve asked us to bring in the car seat tonight to do a car seat test, and if her weight is ok, and the car seat checks out, she may come home tomorrow!
We’re cautiously optimistic, but even if it isn’t tomorrow, it will be very soon, so praise God!
The feeding tube is out! Apparently it was starting to come out, and instead of putting it back in, they just took it out! Yay!
Meg is staying at the hospital overnight tonight and they are pulling the feeding tube at 2am and doing demand-feeding from here on. This is amazing news! No word yet on how this affects a date to come home, but it’s a very good sign!
I’m working on the videos right now, they’ll be up as soon as I get a minute to edit them quickly.
